Usually women who go into depression gain weight for the most part, and with lower estrogen levels during menopause it’s not surprising that weight gain is one of the biggest complaints from women. When nothing seems to shift even after trying a lot of things, it can be tempting to just give up. If you're stuck in depression, know that you don't have to be there. Tune in today as I’m with ACE certified personal trainer, fitness nutrition specialist, as well as certified brain health trainer, Zack Rutledge as he shares his history of depression and building himself back up brick by brick and so much MORE.

In menopause, we lose bone density (so all these things are happening simultaneously). To find relief, some women want that magical pill or the surgery...that we forget that the answers are already within us and we have to do the work. But if after childbirth, you find that you need to take steps to heal your pelvic floor because of pain, leaking, pressure or discomfort “down there…” you don’t have to be stuck in not knowing what to do to care for your sacred anatomy. There's stuff you and I can do. In today’s podcast episode I’m with a licensed physical therapist as well as an expert in integrated pelvic floor therapies, Isa Herrera where we talk about giving your lady parts the first aid and love that they need to be happy. We talk about self-breast exam, and how it’s a part of our monthly health care, but one thing that we don't notice necessarily is what's happening in our bellies. It can be because you may not have pain, and you may just think that there’s a slight bulge on the top of your belly. As women, sometimes we get to a point where we just numb out the pain that we experience in our bodies (example: menstrual pain). But what if we start to pay attention to our body and what we eat? Because what if the way we’ve been eating actually promotes disease like cancer? I talk more about that in today’s episode with registered dietician and low carb advocate, Martha Tettenborn. For instance, France is very connected to nature in some sense. People there enjoy their meals for an hour or two and it’s perfectly normal for them as it gives them an opportunity to connect with their loved ones while taking the time to eat their food. Meanwhile in America, it’s common to stuff food down our stomachs while being in a hurry to get other things done. It’s connected to this cycle of transaction, outcome, and result that comes from an overabundance of masculine energy. And it’s not supposed to be all that bad. I talk more about that and embracing the feminine energy (the slowing down and being in the moment) in today’s podcast with mentor to tens of thousands of women business owners, Fabienne Fredrickson.
